A Taste of Judaism–for Your Unaffiliated Friends and Family

For those curious about Judaism, this FREE, three-session program will be held at congregations throughout Atlanta, starting in Mid-October through the end of the month. The class will be taught by the host congregations’ Rabbis and is open to the Unaffiliated only–Jews or non-Jews–all are welcome (unfortunately, temple members are not eligible to enroll). Our own Rabbi Lebow will teach the class here at Kol Emeth.  Please take advantage of this opportunity to reach out to your extended family members, future in-laws, neighbors and friends and offer them a “Taste” of what makes Judaism so special!  If you know of someone that you think may benefit from Taste please have them contact Pathways at 770-395-2664 or email: tasteofjudaism@pathwaysatlanta.org .  “Taste of Judaism” was developed by the Union for Reform Judaism. The program is supported and co-sponsored by the URJ and the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta.

What is The Mothers Circle?

The Mothers Circle Program is an umbrella of free educational programs and resources for women of other religious backgrounds raising Jewish children within the context of intermarriage or a committed relationship, sponsored by the Jewish Outreach Institute through a grant from the Marcus Foundation.

The Mothers Circle began as a pilot program in Atlanta, but is now a national program.

There are three ways to participate in The Mothers Circle, all of them free:

  • National Listserve – a moderated discussion allowing women to share their experiences with other women like themselves who have chosen to raise their children Jewish. The National Listserve is a place to ask questions and get practical answers. Sign up here.

  • Mothers Circle: The Course – an eight-month educational course offering an introduction to Jewish practices and ethics intended specifically for non-Jewish women raising Jewish children.  Classes held in East Cobb [at Temple Kol Emeth], Alpharetta, and Sandy Springs.

  • Fun Family Events – drop-in celebrations sponsored by The Mothers Circle, usually in conjunction with Jewish holidays. These events are free and open to the entire community, regardless of which partner is Jewish.
