We are excited to welcome Rabbi Sid Schwarz to TKE for a very special Shabbat. Rabbi Sid is one of the foremost thinkers of building Jewish community and synagogue transformation. This promises to be a Shabbat that challenges our assumptions on what it means to participate in Jewish life and to think about all that TKE can do to find new meaning in being Jewish.

Friday, February 28, 6:00 p.m. Dinner & discussion, “Re-Imagining the American Synagogue,” followed by Shabbat Evening Service
Join us for a Mediterranean dinner and a presentation where Rabbi Sid will share insights about how we can re-think the paradigm of the American synagogue to better engage our community and the next generation of American Jews.
Saturday, March 1, 10:30 a.m. Shabbat Morning Alternative Prayer Experience & Lunch
Welcome to “Davening Out of the Box."
Are you are often bored at services?
Do you have no idea why anyone would willingly attend a worship service?
Are you are a deeply spiritual person but services don’t always work for you?
Do you want to go where prayerful Jews have never gone before?
Then this Shabbat Morning Prayer service is for you!
We will sing, clap hands, shake shakers and interact with one another to create a deep and meaningful prayer experience unlike anything we have been a part of before. Through discussions, song, movement and sharing, participants, from young to old, will walk away with a new appreciation for the Shabbat liturgy and the transformative power of prayer. If able, please bring a personal tallit (prayer shawl) to use during our prayer gathering. [NOTE: This service will begin promptly at 10:30 a.m. and it is imperative to appreciate and understand the experience that you arrive on time.]
We will adjourn from the service to a Shabbat lunch, where we will continue our Shabbat experience with a chance to reflect on the prayer experience through the prism of classical rabbinic texts.
RSVP for either (or both!) programs by Wednesday, February 26 before 12:00 p.m. noon.
There is a $15 per person charge for Shabbat Evening dinner.
There is no charge for the lunch, but donations are appreciated.
