Cantorial Soloist Blake Singer
Blake Singer, Cantorial Soloist
Blake Singer has been the Cantorial Soloist for Temple Kol Emeth since 1986. His folk-style music for guitar and voice are used during worship services and lifecycle events. Blake incorporates a balanced blend of music into the worship experience, drawing from a wide variety of music genres that include traditional, Hassidic, camp, folk, country and rock & roll.
Blake has composed a collection of songs about the lifecycle events found in Judaism, many of which have become a fixture at Temple Kol Emeth's Bar/Bat Mitzvah, Baby Naming and High Holiday services. He has also composed new melodies for many of the standard liturgical prayers encountered in the Shabbat worship service.
Blake strongly encourages active participation in music at worship services. He also believes in nurturing the musical aspirations of the many talented adults and teens in our congregation, who can often be found singing along side him in harmony on the bema.
Temple Kol Emeth is blessed to have wonderful adult choirs that add their voices to worship services on a monthly basis and many special music programs throughout the year. Directed by Burt Kann, and accompanied by Ira Wajsman, the TKE choir are also very involved in community programs such as choral festivals, ecumenical services and senior home visits.
